In the midst of any group material culture is technology. Whatever group members do, as well as the process used when creating that object, is technology. It is clear that this extensive cultural aspect will have a profound impact on society. The technology that appears continues to advance how people interact, from daily conversations to mass broadcasters.

In general, the technology that arises is a small change in what already exists. However, from time to time, this change can have a significant impact on the community as we know. This change is defined today with the term “new technology”. In the early 1900s new technology was a car. Today is generally related to computers and other mass media devices.

The importance of this new technology, however, is not located in the item itself. Instead, the technology that the community has rolled balls for other nonmaterial culture. Technology has an impact on how people think and how they relate to each other. A good model of this is telephone technology. Before this innovation, people have to wait for days or weeks to transfer information through the post office or messenger. Often citizens living in the southern countryside will not receive news related to election, war, or other important events. By telephone, information can be transferred instantly, and decisions and progress can be made faster based on information.

For most human history, slow communication. Therefore, certain people sect tends to develop a distinctive way of life. Extreme examples of these are the Tasmanian people, isolated on an island off the coast of Australia. Lack of contact with other humans results in a lack of knowledge about what the clothes are, and how to make fire. Even today we can see the side effects of this type of insulation, because many cultures still have habits and rituals dated which are not considered relevant in modern American society. While the tribal and ritualistic drums of the new Guinea seemed silly to Americans today, it was only the result of the progress of staggering communication.

The level in which the advanced community is largely dependent on the level of technological advancement of society. Communication, especially, has a big impact on how fast a group of advanced people. When information is exchanged at a higher level, information about the latest modes, political elections, and new media can be processed in a much more efficient way, reaching more people in a shorter time.
